Medically-Based Enterprise Risk Management
Testimonials
— Senior Executive with a Large Regional Home Builder thanking NMAS for assisting him and his team in remedying a potentially adversarial issue with current homeowners as well as putting in place some processes to prevent the likelihood of similar problems arising in new housing developments.
I want to make sure you know how much I appreciate everything you have done for our company and for me over the last year. You and your team get all the credit for diffusing the situation we were up against. You really turned things around, changing a stressful situation into something we could deal with. Even more than helping us deal successfully with our immediate situation, you shared your knowledge with me to help me avoid issues in the future. A year ago, I never could have imagined how much I could learn from you. Thanks for being my mentor and my friend.
— Partner with a National Law Firm detailing his reasons for recommending NMAS to his property management client as they were dealing with a significant mold issue
My reasons for recommending you highly to my client start with the fact that dealing with people and politics often is more critical in minimizing risks in these matters than getting the assessment, remediation, and source prevention completed in a proper and timely manner. Your expertise in risk communications enables you to contribute my client’s success in resolving this issue. In addition, you provide advantages that other consultants do not, including:
- Medical expertise regarding exposure and causation that others offering merely industrial hygiene services do not, and
- The ability to coordinate the full spectrum of services that my client needs, including assessment of health risks, remediation of mold, and redesign and renovation of building and related systems.
Overall, your capabilities will benefit my client through your coordination of the assessment, remediation, and renovation effort, along with your ability to address concerns/perceptions of the community in terms of health risks and in terms of how they address design issues in the future.
— Head of the legal team defending a vehicle manufacturer in a matter alleging carbon monoxide poisoning
At a marathon mediation session yesterday, we were able to settle the case for a fraction of the millions the plaintiff demanded. No one left happy – which is the sign of a good mediation. Many thanks to all of you – this was the most impressive team of experts with whom I have worked.
— Deputy Director of a large agency within the U.S. Department of Homeland Security regarding the outcome of a critical status meeting with representatives of the Congressional oversight committee and next steps in the project as it continues
Excellent job today! Our department head stated that we are in a much better position now than before the meeting. This result is due largely to the expertise you brought to the table. Looking ahead, my team agrees with your strategy recommendations. We look forward to continuing to work with you to gather and analyze the data in order to respond to the Congressional mandate and also developing tools and procedures to help us achieve our goals.
— Health, Safety & Environmental Specialist for a self-managed REIT with over 18.5 million square feet of rentable office space across the U.S. on how the NMAS IEAQ Planning Resource Manual and building engineer training enabled his company to live their promise of high-quality client service by helping one of their tenants address employees' health-driven complaints actively and effectively.
Recently, I received an indoor air quality complaint from a frustrated tenant. Eight or more of the tenant's employees were complaining of upper respiratory discomfort they alleged were attributed to spending time in our building. Several of the employees had complained that they had experienced these symptoms for many years, but no one had come forward with the information for one or more reasons. In fact, one employee had quit because of his symptoms.
As the result of the Indoor Environmental and Air Quality (IEAQ) plan you helped us develop and implement, we were able to provide the affected people with the Occupant Complaint Form and the Occupant Diary. We also conducted one-on-one Occupant Interviews. These actions helped us to effectively demonstrate our concern for our tenants and our commitment to quality. One of the interviewees told us, "Your company really takes customer service seriously."
Those seven words spoke volumes. Regardless of the outcome, we were able to help our tenant take control of their employees' health-driven situation...something we and they would not have been able to do in the past. A short, 10-minute dialogue with each affected person turned a conflict into an opportunity.
